Over the past seven months I have been paying particular attention to how my choice of outfits makes me feel, walk, talk, and think. In June I had a very important meeting and I wanted to make an impactful first impression on this new client. In my corporate days to accomplish this goal I would wear a really smart corporate navy blue double breasted suit with the skirt smartly cut right above the knee with a silk white blouse and single strand pearl necklace or a threatening cranberry red suit with a white low cut shell and double strand pearl to hang flirtatiously at the cleavage line. My focus used to be how good the clothes look on me; now when I choose an outfit I'm more aware of the influence behind the creativity of the designer, their expressions of sophistication, elegance, glamour, and the beauty of the woman, and the designer I am wearing. I remember when Laura Bush became more aware of who she was wearing, she embraced the indulgent luxuriousness of high style and clever color combinations giving her a brilliant sense of style. First Lady Michelle Obama brings life to the authenticity of who she wears and the fashion world has their eye cast on her every fashion detail. I also admire other first ladies namely Sarah Brown and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. |
